Sharp XG-MB50X; Blow your mind, not your lamp

If you are looking for an inexpensive projector that has a lot of bang for the almighty dollar, you may want to do some research on the Sharp XG-MB50X. It still isn’t the cheapest projector on the market, but at $1595 US, it still remains within the price range of a DLP rear projection television, only less bulky.

I suppose it depends on the use of the projector, whether it be home theatre use or office/educational presentations, to really determine if it can compete with alternative choices on the market. The best reason to buy this projector is the picture quality. It offers many features that combine to produce a stunning image such as 2000ANSI Lumens, 2000:1 contrast ratio, high resolution and a great zoom lens. The XG-MB50X has an extremely bright picture produced by its 275W DC lamp. The contrast is exceptional providing the viewer with sharp blacks and vivid colors that allow for a noticeably wide spectrum. The resolution is standard 1024x768p, however the ability to compress up to 1400x1050p doesn’t hurt either. Throw in a short throw lens that makes images so clear you’d think you were drinking Crystal Pepsi and the convincing is no longer needed. The Short Throw lens also makes it very easy for those who do not have a large room and are working in a confined space.

Another bonus that this projector offers is a low audible noise level when operating. It is loudest at 33db’s, which is quite impressive considering its wattage and brightness. (With a brighter image, your projector requires a brighter lamp and thus needs to be cooled down with an effective fan unit). It also employs a 3x speed, 4 segment color wheel allowing the viewer a Disney style color explosion. The XG-MB50X is also quite dynamic in its input range allowing users to “hook-up” almost any way they like.
